sLigHt bLuNndEr!

Okay, so let me just explain something here. For those of you who look at my sister Jennifer's blog she totally betrayed me. She posted a little something on the end of her 'Under the Weather' post that is now making me explain my ditziness!

So for the past 2 years that Gary and I have been married I have been washing all of our laundry in fabric softener. That's right I said FABRIC SOFTENER. No detergent added, just straight softener. Now let me explain why I have made this blunder... For a couple of my showers I got about 3 bottles of the Downy fabric softener. So when I got married I thought it was just detergent I didn't even think to read the bottle I just used it and thought it did a fabulous job! So I just kept buying it because I really liked it. I especially loved how it made all our laundry have that clean laundry scent and feel so soft! DUH?! right? Well I still didn't ever read the bottle. Well about two weeks ago Jen and I went grocery shopping together and we both needed laundry detergent, well Jen always buys Tide and I was telling her I bought it once and thought it was just too expensive so I showed her what I always bought. So she decided to give it a try since it was cheaper and we read it did 105 loads of laundry. Well when we read that I thought, "I don't think I ever get that many loads out of one bottle." but I just thought they probably were exagerrating to get you to buy it. (well now I know it's because I was using it wrong.) So this is how I found out I am so dumb sometimes... Jen just got her wisdom teeth out so her sweet husband Ryan was doing their laundry and since all their Tide was gone he decides to give the new stuff a try. After realzing it doesn't suds right he tells Jen and she gives me a call.
This is our conversation:
"Jenessa, what do you use as laundry detergent?"

I answer, "The lavender vanilla stuff." I think (duh, you just bought some with me)

Jennifer starts laughing so hard and manages after about two minutes to gasp out "Jenessa!!!! That is fabric softener. That is not even detergent. You have not been washing your clothes for two years, just making them really soft."

My reply "Na uh, it's detergent."

She laughs "GO LOOK AT THE BOTTLE"
I go to the bottle and search and search and SEARCH to prove her wrong. To my dismay I found the smallest font possible on the very bottom right corner that says Fabric Softener.

I start laughing, but also want to cry a little for how dumb I am and say "Are you kidding me?"
Jennifer continues to laugh so hard she is crying and says "Ryan says thats where blonde jokes come from!"

This, my friends is one mistake I know I will never live down, but how was I suppose to know. I got them as a gift and my mom never really used fabric softener growing up. So I thought for sure fabric softener would come in a different bottle and would have huge font that explained what its purpose was. WRONG!!! It says it in the smallest font of the world. So this post is for all you who don't read bottles Downy Lavender Vanilla is really softener.

This really is so funny. It made me smile really big when I read it on your Facebook status. But I have to be honest I don't really know that much about doing the laundry (Josh does it at our house) so I think I could have easily made the same mistake. Thanks for sharing :)
